Keylong: 5 September 2025 …. A significant meeting of the Disaster Review was organized today at the tribal district Lahaul Spiti district headquarters Kelang, which was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Lahaul Spiti Kiran Bhadana. All the office heads of the district were present in this meeting. During the recent disaster in the district, review and detailed discussion of departmental activities and functioning was done.
The following topics were mainly discussed in the meeting:
• Electricity supply: The current status of the affected power system due to disaster, the steps taken for early restoration were givenApart from this, review and information of electricity restoration work was also done from Kullu. The status of Thirot Powerhouse and the discil of reservoir were discussed.
• Road connectivity: There was a detailed discussion on the efforts to repair the roads damaged by landslides and rain in the district.
• Drinking water and water supply: Review of water supply problems in affected areas and repair work of water sources.
• Communication system: There was also a discussion about BSNL’s services including telecom and internet services affected by disaster.
• Other disaster management issues: Progress of relief and rescue operations, arrangements for necessary resources and other steps being taken to smooth public life.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the officials of Police, Disaster Management Department, Health Department, Electricity, Water Department and Public Works Department to continue the work of relief and rehabilitation on a war footing. He said that providing immediate assistance to the affected people in the disaster is among the highest priorities of all of us.
The meeting re -assessed the coordination and readiness of all departments to deal with the effects of disaster and emphasized the necessary corrective measures. Apart from this, the Deputy Commissioner also said that in the coming time, especially when there is snowfall in Lahaul in winter, we will have to face similar challenges and at this time we can learn from this disaster how we all have to work together at that time.
During this time, the Deputy Commissioner said that the administration is doing the restoration of water, electricity, road and communication system in the affected areas with full readiness so that life can come back to normal position as soon as possible.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner motivated all the departments to be vigilant and to keep complete preparations to deal with any emergency immediately.
