On the occasion of Senior Citizens Day, an awareness camp was organized by the District Legal Services Authority in Hardaspur. The purpose of this camp was to provide information to the senior citizens of the society about their rights, welfare schemes and legal provisions.
Chief Legal Services Defense Advocate DP Malhotra, who was specially present in the program, gave detailed information about Parents and Senior Citizens Maintenance Welfare Act-2007, NALSA (Senior Citizen Legal Services) Scheme 2016 and free legal aid. He also informed the elderly about the legal measures to avoid abuse, neglect and property fraud. Apart from this, he also informed the senior citizens about the various types of legal aid provided by the authority.
Deputy Chief Legal Services Advocate Shakun told in the camp that free legal consultation is provided to senior citizens by the Legal Services Authority. He told that under this facility, senior citizens, women, children, people of scheduled castes and tribes, handicapped people and people of economically weaker sections can avail the benefit of free lawyer and legal consultation to get justice. He told that to get any kind of legal assistance, one can contact the toll free number of the authority-15100.
Assistant Legal Aid Advocate Anurag Thakur at the camp gave detailed information to the senior citizens present about the various legal aids provided by the Authority as well as the National Senior Citizens Commission Act-2019 and various legal rights of senior citizens.
A large number of senior citizens were present in the camp.
