The district-level NCORD committee, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap, met via video conferencing to discuss substance abuse prevention, strict action against public alcohol consumption, and anti-drug campaigns at the Panchayat level to ensure a drug-free Himachal.
248 drug prevention committees have been formed in the district. Through these committees, the administration receives information about drug traffickers.
The Deputy Commissioner announced that a one-day workshop will be held in Shimla on January 18th. District-level officials, including the SDM, DSP, District Attorney, Assistant District Attorney, and DFO, will be present. A special strategy will be developed at this workshop due to the high number of drug cases pending in court. This workshop will provide training on how to effectively investigate cases and ensure the court punishes the accused. We must all work together to make the district drug-free.
Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap stated that Road Safety Month is being observed in the district. We need to learn from the Haripur Dhar bus accident in Sirmaur. All drivers in the district should be made aware of the need to overload commercial vehicles. Furthermore, vehicles should only be driven on the roads after their fitness is complete. He directed the District Transport Officer to strictly enforce traffic and transport department regulations. He urged them to work effectively to reduce road accidents in the district.
