Shimla
More than 400 medical officers, nurses, and paramedical staff of the health department, who serve on deputation near the home, will have to come to the native place. The government has asked to cancel the deputation of these officers and employees who have gone on deputation. The health department has also asked for a list. Several doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff members who had gone on deputation have also started returning to their native places.
The state government is constantly receiving complaints that instead of providing services to the officers and employees where they have been deployed, they are giving duties near their homes on deputation. There is a huge shortage of doctors in hospitals. There is also a shortage of paramedical staff in hospitals. The government is filling the posts with doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff after two to three months.
After serving for some time, these medical officers and nurses are deputing to nearby hospitals and dispensaries. The state government wants to strengthen health services in the tribal areas. The government has also taken the initiative to provide doorstep facilities to the people living in the tribal areas. Director of Health Prakash Chand Daroch said doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff on deputation have been asked to rejoin duty at their native places. Many have also joined.
The government has received complaints that many community health centers, districts, and civil hospitals in Himachal are overstaffed. In such a situation, the staff has to be removed.
