Shimla
A Door-to-door garbage collection services in Shimla have been affected due to an ongoing protest, leading to a heap of waste accumulating at the Old Bus Stand. The situation has turned the area into a virtual dumping ground, causing inconvenience to commuters and shopkeepers.
Garbage bins at the bus stand were seen overflowing, with plastic waste, food packets and other trash scattered around. A foul smell from the piled-up waste has made it difficult for people to even stand in the area for long.
Locals and passengers expressed strong resentment over the situation and blamed the Municipal Corporation for failing to ensure proper waste management. They said the authorities should find a permanent solution to the problem so that such situations do not arise in the future.
Residents warned that if timely action is not taken, the unhygienic conditions could pose serious health risks, especially in a busy public place like the Old Bus Stand where hundreds of people pass through every day.
