The Synergistic Training Programme Utilising the Scientific and Technological Infrastructure (STUTI) programme, in association with Department of Science and Technology (DST), began at Shoolini University on Monday.
The hands-on training programme commenced with the auspicious lighting of the ceremonial lamp and Saraswati Vandana, followed by the release of the brochure.
Dr. Deepak Kapoor Dean Pharmaceutical Sciences, addressed the gathering. Mr. Jai Dev from ICT Mumbai, introduced the DST-STUTI Programme and represented the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai.
The course and objectives of the programme were introduced by Dr. Deepak Kumar, Host Institute Coordinator, DST STUTI ICT, Shoolini University, He also thanked the Institute of Chemical Technology Mumbai and the Department of Science and Technology for providing support for this event.
Prof. P.K. Khosla, Chancellor, Shoolini University, enlightened the students and participants with some wise words and the importance of such training programs.
Prof. Dulal Panda, Director, NIPER Mohali, delivered the keynote address on the importance of fluorescence spectroscopic and microscopic methods in drug discovery and drug design. Opening remarks were given by Chief Guest Dr. Sanjeev Khosla, Director, CSIR-IMTECH, Chandigarh, and elaborated on the role of new lead compounds and their importance in industry. Padma Shri Prof. RC Sobti, Emeritus Professor, Department of Biotechnology and Ex-Vice Chancellor, Punjab University, Chandigarh, presented comments and concluding remarks. He emphasised how new lead discoveries can be beneficial to society.
Expert Session talk was delivered by Prof. Vinod Kumar Tiwari, Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi on the topic “Synthetic Chemists and Our Society: Our contribution to CuAAC Click in Glycoscience”.
All the participants and professors visited the university campus and planted trees near the library premises, pharmacy, and Botechnology Block. The hands-on training on in silico studies was conducted and demonstrated by Dr. Deepak Kumar, Mr. Sunil Kumar, Mr. Monu Kumar Shukla, and Mr. Sounok Sen Gupta, followed by a question and answer session.
