Education Minister Rohit Thakur visited Jubbal Kotkhai on Saturday. During this, he inspected the disaster affected areas.
Apart from this, he chaired the review meeting of disaster relief works with top officials of all important departments at Vikas Bhawan Kotkhai and Vishram Grih Hatkoti.
Education Minister Rohit Thakur said that this year the entire northern India has received much more rain than normal during the monsoon season, due to which Himachal has also faced a huge disaster. He also said that in his constituency too, roads and other basic facilities have suffered damage worth crores.
Due to the apple season, his biggest priority is to deliver the apples of the orchardists to the market on time and ensure the safety of life and property of the general public. In this direction, he is in constant touch with the officials of all the departments.
He informed that 73 houses have been affected in Jubbal subdivision, out of which 65 are partially affected and 8 are fully affected. Along with this, one tragic death has also occurred. 41 houses have been affected in Kotkhai, out of which 35 are partially affected and 6 are fully affected. And 29 houses have been partially affected in Tikkar. Relief is being provided to the affected as per rules.
Roads have been damaged at various places in two major national highways number 705 and 707 of Upper Shimla, due to which a loss of Rs 37 crore has occurred. Apart from this, out of 172 roads under Jubbal Mandal, 21 roads are closed. And there has been a loss of about 57 crore rupees. Out of a total of 126 roads under Kotkhai sub-division, 33 roads have been obstructed, due to which a loss of 43 crore 80 has occurred. Out of a total of 39 roads under Tikkar sub-division, 13 roads are closed and a loss of 12 crore rupees has occurred.
Education Minister Rohit Thakur said that in view of the apple season, he has instructed the officials to work on opening the roads with full seriousness and promptness. Apart from this, a large number of machines and workers have been deployed on the roads at this time. And in the coming one or two days, the number of machines will be increased so that the relief work can be done at a faster pace. Apart from roads, basic amenities like electricity and water have also been affected. And under the Electricity Department, there has been a loss of about 2 crore rupees in Jubbal Kotkhai Mandal and 14 lakh rupees in Tikkar sub-division. Under the Jal Shakti Department, 131 schemes in Jubbal Kotkhai Mandal and 67 schemes in Tikkar have been affected and there has been a loss of about 9 crore 47 lakh rupees.
The Education Minister said that apples are being purchased by the Government under MIS and this facility is running smoothly at 77 purchase centres by HPMC.
The Education Minister said that the work of repairing all these basic facilities is being done on a war footing and within the next one week, all of them will be completed 100% so that normal life is not affected. And in the coming time, he will again visit his constituency and review the situation.
