The Education Minister was present in Sub Tehsil Tikkar under Jubbal-Kotkhai Assembly Constituency today, where he reviewed the damage caused to roads and other infrastructure due to heavy rains. During this, he met villagers from different panchayats of Nawar area and discussed the loss of life and property due to the disaster and assured all possible help to the affected.
He said that this year Himachal Pradesh has received more rainfall than normal during the monsoon season, due to which all of northern India as well as Himachal Pradesh has faced disasters like floods and landslides. He said that he has been on a tour of his constituency for the last two days, and during this time he has assessed the damage caused to road facilities, electricity, and drinking water projects in Kotkhai and Jubbal.
36 out of 37 blocked roads in Navar area have been restored; the remaining 1 road will be restored today
While discussing the situation in the Nawar area, Rohit Thakur said that out of a total of 37 roads under the subdivision Tikkar, 36 roads have been opened and the remaining 1 road will also be restored today. Along with this, 51 houses have been partially damaged. A total of 71 security walls around the residential areas have been damaged and 3 Gaushalas, 2 labourers’ houses, 2 shops and 900 apple plants have been damaged. All the affected people are being provided relief as per the rules while drinking water and electricity services are being provided smoothly. During this, he interacted with the local Panchayat representatives and villagers from various Panchayats and listened to their problems. He held a meeting with the officials of various departments and also directed them to take appropriate action as per the rules.
Marketing of apples is the biggest priority
The Education Minister said that in the current situation, his top priority is to ensure that the apple crop of the orchardists reaches the mandis because apple is the main source of livelihood for the people here. He said that under the “Mandi Medista Yojana” by the government, apples are being actively purchased in 16 centers of sub-tehsil Tikkar. He said that this year so far 1 crore 60 lakh boxes of apples have reached the mandis and 60 percent of the apple season has been completed.

Rohit Thakur said that the government stands with the people of the state in every situation and this relief amount is the highest in the whole of India. He said that for some time now, there have been undesirable and unexpected changes in the weather due to which natural disasters are causing more damage every year. Himachal has also faced extreme disasters during the rainy season in 2023 and 2025 due to which there has been loss of life, property and infrastructure. In such a situation, the current state government has changed the rules of relief to compensate for the loss caused in the disaster and to help the public, under which Rs 7 lakh for a house completely damaged due to flood or other natural reasons, whether kutcha or pukka (more than 70% damage), Rs 1 lakh for partially damaged house (kutcha or pukka), Rs 1 lakh for damage to shop or dhaba, Rs 70,000 for loss of property of house owners, Rs 50,000 for loss of property of tenants, Rs 50,000 for damage to cowshed (more than 70% damage), Rs 50,000 for removal of silt from the house by the house owner, Rs 25,000 for completely damaged polyhouse, Rs 6,000 for removal of silt from agricultural and horticultural land (per bigha), Rs 10,000 for loss of agricultural and horticultural land (per bigha), Rs 4,000 for crop damage (per bigha) Assistance of Rs. 55,000 in case of loss of large milch and draught animals (per animal), Rs. 9,000 in case of loss of goat, pig, sheep and lamb (per animal) is being provided.
The Education Minister said that he is constantly reviewing the relief and rehabilitation work and is in constant touch with the officials. Very soon he will again visit his constituency and review the status of relief work.

Meanwhile, he reached Pujarli-3 and paid obeisance at the temple of the deity Golinag and prayed for the well-being of the people of the area.
