Chamba, February 21:
Himachal Pradesh Education Minister Rohit Thakur said that the rationalisation of schools in the state is being undertaken to improve the quality of education and ensure optimal use of resources.
On his arrival in Chamba, the Minister was welcomed at Parivesh Griha by MLA Neeraj Nayyar, Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal, Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar Saklani, Deputy Director of School Education Vikas Mahajan, district officials, and local residents.
Interacting with media persons, Rohit Thakur stated that the arrangements being made by the Education Department in Chamba district would be reviewed on the ground, and further steps would be taken accordingly.
He said that the rationalisation process in schools with low enrolment is being carried out with the objective of strengthening the education system. He added that over the past 10 years, nearly 90,000 schools across the country have undergone rationalisation to ensure effective utilisation of available infrastructure and manpower.
The Minister clarified that most of the schools currently being rationalised in Himachal Pradesh had either zero or very low enrolment and that the process is being implemented based on prescribed standards.
He expressed confidence that better resource management would ultimately lead to improved educational outcomes in the state.
During his visit, the Minister also addressed various public grievances and was honoured by different organisations and officials of the Education Department.
