Shimla
The state administration of Himachal Pradesh has made a significant decision as a result of the ongoing, intense rainfall. In order to ensure the safety of both students and faculty, the Directorate of Higher Education has mandated that all colleges and other higher education establishments close. This decision will apply to districts in the state where the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDM) or District Deputy Commissioner (DC) has previously directed the closure of educational establishments.
This order was made in accordance with the Disaster Management Act (SDMA), according to Dr. Amarjeet K. Sharma, Director of Higher Education. Its goal is to guarantee that, in the event of bad weather, neither employees nor students are at risk.
The director said that this ruling will stand until the sub-divisional magistrate or the relevant deputy commissioner deems the situation to be normal. Additionally, he has instructed all college administrators to set up online courses for pupils to take while the institution is closed. This will guarantee that the students’ studies are not interfered with in any way and that they may proceed with their course.
Heavy rains and landslides have been reported in various districts of Himachal Pradesh in recent days, severely disrupting daily life. Both the electricity supply and traffic on the roadways are affected in several locations. The Higher Education Department’s action in this case is a prudent and cautious one that protects everyone’s safety without interfering with the academic schedule.
