Hamirpur, November 19:
Senior Himachal Pradesh BJP spokesperson and former Sujanpur MLA Rajendra Rana launched a direct attack on Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, saying that the Chief Minister is creating a contradictory situation by getting entangled in his own statements. Taking a dig, Rana said that on one hand the Chief Minister is citing broken roads in the state as the reason for not holding Panchayat Raj elections, while on the other hand, citing the same broken roads, preparations are being made in full swing to celebrate his three-year anniversary in Mandi, on which the hard-earned money of the public, i.e., the income tax payers’ money, will be looted lavishly.
In a statement issued here today, Rajendra Rana said, “When the government has yet to provide relief to disaster victims or repair the state’s roads, what justifies this expensive celebration? He said that the Congress government is shying away from the Panchayat Raj elections because it knows full well that the public is ready to “wipe out” the Congress party in these elections.”
Rajendra Rana also attacked the Chief Minister over the state’s economic turmoil. Rana said that it’s already November 19th, but HRTC employees haven’t received their pensions for the previous month. The situation of contractors is even worse—due to the lack of government payments, they are increasingly burdened with bank loans. Many contractors completed government projects by borrowing from relatives, but now those relatives are visiting their homes demanding their money back. The few contractors who are being paid by the government are also relatives of those close to the government.
Rajendra Rana said that state government employees and pensioners are also suffering from this chaos, as their medical bills have been pending for months. Furthermore, they have not yet received their Punjab pay scale arrears.
Rajendra Rana said, “Postponing elections in the name of roads and then spending millions on celebrations—this is the true character of the Sukhu government. He said the people of the state are watching and will respond when the time comes.”
