Shimla, June 5, 2025: Nature has always been a companion of human life; under its shade, civilizations took shape, cultures flourished, and life continued to evolve. But when human selfishness crossed the limits of balance, then this life-giving nature had to be damaged. Humans probably forget that they themselves are also a part of this nature. Today, the echo of the environmental crisis is shaking the global consciousness and under this feeling, ‘World Environment Day’ is organized every year on June 5 by the United Nations.
Taking inspiration from this global initiative, Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation, the social wing of Sant Nirankari Mission, under the visionary and public welfare leadership of Satguru Mata Sudiksha Ji Maharaj, organized a massive tree plantation and cleanliness drive on 5th June from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm at 18 major hill tourist destinations across the country, focusing on the theme set by the United Nations, ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’. The human chain was flagged off by Zonal In-charge NPS Bhullar Ji from Sant Nirankari Satsang Bhawan, Shimla.
After this, a cleanliness drive was carried out in Kamala Nehru Hospital, which has been adopted by Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation. Along with this, the volunteers of the mission took out an awareness rally in the form of a human chain from Nirankari Bhawan Bemloi to the Ridge via Mall Road. Street meetings were also organized in the open theater, in which children sang songs about the environment in the Pahari language. Apart from this, jute bags were also distributed to the people, and they were requested to use plastic as little as possible.
