Suddenly a Panic gripped in Shimla areas as following the circulation of a list of 81 persons on the social media, who had returned from abroad and neighbouring states between March 9 and 21, of which one was falsely stated to have tested positive for Covid.
The list contained the names of the persons, dates of arrival, addresses, phone numbers and symptoms of 81 persons.
People started making making frantic calls to the family members of the persons to enquire about their well-being.
The police station (East) has registered an FIR against a person for spreading rumour among the public about Covid-19 positive person in Shimla on social networking sites, said SP Omapati Jamwal.
A case was registered on the complaint of the father of the person shown as positive on the list.
The father maintained that his son came back from Goa on March 19 and informed about his arrival at 1077.
He got his check-up in Ayurvedic Hospital, Chhota Shimla, and primary health centre, Secretariat, and was given medication for cough.
Till now, no person has tested positive for Covid-19 in Shimla and the list was fake.
The list has been purportedly circulated with the intention to create panic. Investigations are underway, police sources said.
Meanwhile, acting tough against curfew violators, the police today arrested 54 persons (51 for violations and three persons under preventive sections) and registered 40 new cases.
