Dr. Rajeev Bindal on Friday launched a sharp attack on the Congress Party government in Himachal Pradesh, alleging that “false guarantees and mounting debt” have pushed the state towards a “point of no return” ahead of the upcoming budget.
Addressing the media after a series of meetings at the BJP state office in Chakkar, Bindal said the fourth budget to be presented by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu would be “another betrayal” of the people.
He claimed that the Congress came to power in 2022 by misleading voters with promises, including ₹1,500 per month to women, which, he alleged, has not been fulfilled. “Now talks of giving ₹100 instead expose the government’s intent,” he said.
Bindal further alleged that promises of providing five lakh jobs, including one lakh government jobs, remain unfulfilled, calling it a “cruel joke” on unemployed youth.
Raising concerns over the state’s financial health, he claimed that loans worth over ₹45,000 crore have pushed the state into crisis while development works have stalled. He alleged that several schools, colleges, hospitals and health centres have been shut, recruitments halted, and infrastructure projects delayed.
The BJP leader also targeted the government over rising prices, stating that electricity, water charges, transport fares, fuel, cement and ration costs have increased, adding to the burden on common people after withdrawal of subsidies.
Bindal said employees, pensioners and students were facing difficulties, alleging shortages of teachers and delays in basic facilities. “The promised ‘system change’ has turned into a ‘system collapse’,” he remarked.
He added that the people of the state have “understood the reality” and will respond accordingly in the future.
