Shimla, March 28: A meeting of the Farmers’ Advisory Committee of the Agriculture Department, Basantpur, was held to review ongoing development works and discuss key issues concerning farmers. The meeting was chaired by Committee Chairman Besardas Harnot.
During the meeting, members conducted a detailed review of previous works and deliberated on several important proposals. Major focus areas included the department’s budget, overall farmer welfare, and the promotion of advanced farming projects in the region.
A significant demand raised during the meeting was the allocation of funds for the centrally sponsored ATMA (Agricultural Technology Management Agency) project. The committee emphasized that adequate funding is essential to strengthen agricultural extension services and support farmers effectively.
Chairman Besardas Harnot also urged PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh to allocate funds for the repair and maintenance of the Agriculture Department office in Basantpur.
Officials from concerned departments presented updates on the progress of various schemes. They were directed to expedite pending works and ensure timely implementation. The meeting also stressed the need to accelerate development in infrastructure, particularly roads, water supply, and other essential facilities in rural areas.
To improve efficiency, instructions were given to assign clear responsibilities to officials for the effective execution of departmental plans. It was further decided that development works will be reviewed regularly to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach the public in a timely manner.
The meeting was attended by Subject Matter Expert Dr. Yadavindra Saini, ADO Yashpal Verma, Panchayat Samiti President Karmchand, Block Technical Manager Bhishma Negi, and committee members Jyotika Verma, Desraj, Khemchand Kashyap, and ATM Pratiksha Sharma, along with other officials and stakeholders who shared their suggestions.
