SHIMLA/CHAMBA
The FIRs have been filed against two officers of the Himachal Pradesh Pollution Control Board. Cases against both are pending in the court. One officer was named in a corruption case, but the surprising thing is that no action has been taken against that officer by the Pollution Control Board. This information has come to light during the ongoing monsoon session of Himachal Vidhan Sabha in Shimla.
In a written reply to a question by Bharmour MLA Dr Janak Raj, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu informed that at present police cases are registered against two officers of the Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board. The first case was registered on 9th July 2017 at Police Station Kullu against the then Environment Engineer of Regional Office Kullu, Chandan Kumar Singh, under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The Chief Minister informed that this case is pending in the District Court of Kallu and no departmental action has been taken in this regard. Chandan Kumar Singh is currently working as an Environment Engineer in the Head Office, Shimla.
The Chief Minister informed that the second case has been registered against the then Environmental Engineer Atul Parmar of Regional Office Bilaspur. Regarding this, Atul Parmar informed the Pollution Control Board on 16 August 2024 that on 1 July 2023, Constable Ajay Kumar of Bilaspur complained to him that when he was on duty on the National Highway, Atul Parmar disobeyed his orders.
On this, SP Bilaspur informed the Pollution Control Board on 28 August 2024 that at present this matter is pending in the CGM Court Bilaspur. The next hearing in this case is scheduled for 4 November 2024.
