171.61 crores were distributed from April 2021 to October 2022, two ineligible people returned an amount of about Rs 2 lakh
Hamirpur 11 August. Nardev Singh Kanwar, Chairman of Building Construction and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, has said that the figures of workers registered on a large scale in the board and financial benefits given to many ineligible people in just a few months during the year 2022 are surprising. Many irregularities are being revealed in their investigation. The board is registering FIR against those found guilty in these.
Addressing a press conference at the board’s headquarters here on Monday, Nardev Singh Kanwar said that about 70 thousand workers were registered in the state during the few months before the assembly elections of the year 2022 and financial benefits of about Rs 171.61 crore were distributed from April 2021 to October 2022, which includes Rs 52.42 crore of Hamirpur district. Many well-off people were also included among those who took these benefits. This has hurt the interests of many needy and eligible workers.
Nardev Singh Kanwar said that as soon as he took charge, he decided to do e-KYC of all the workers through Him Parivar portal and in this many ineligible people have been identified, who have taken financial benefits of lakhs of rupees by adopting wrong tactics. The board has lodged an FIR against 12 such people in Hamirpur district. He told that people who take financial benefits by adopting wrong tactics can be punished up to ten years. Now many ineligible people are coming forward to return the money to the board due to fear of action. 2 people have also returned an amount of about 2 lakh rupees.
Nardev Singh Kanwar said that as per the instructions of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, transparency is being ensured in the functioning of the board so that the benefits of its schemes can reach the eligible and needy workers. For this, strict guidelines have been issued to the labour welfare officers and motivators of all the districts.
