11 people caught red handed, 12 thousand rupees fine collected on the spot
Mandi, August 8. The teams of Fisheries Department, Matsya Mandal Mandi are continuously active for the successful implementation of the prohibited period in the general water streams of the district and to prevent illegal fishing. As soon as the case of illegal fishing and sale comes to light, strict action is being taken against the concerned persons under the Fisheries Act 1976 and Fisheries Rules 2020.
Assistant Director Matsya Mandi Neetu Singh said that in this sequence, on August 7, the department’s team under the leadership of Senior Fisheries Officer Tej Ram Verma patrolled the Beas, Suketi and Ratti Khad areas. During this, 11 people were caught red-handed while fishing illegally in Bhadyal, Dhadhour and Ratti and a fine of Rs 12,000 was collected on the spot. Apart from this, on the basis of the complaint received on the Chief Minister Seva Sankalp Portal, Fisheries Officer Mahaseer Farm Machhyal took action against two people in the Ladbhadol area on August 6 and imposed a heavy fine.
The Assistant Director said that the ban period is applicable in all the general water areas of Mandi district including the state till August 15. As soon as the ban period ends, licensed fishermen will be able to do fishing. People wishing to obtain the license can contact any nearby office of the department and get the license made. He clarified that no person involved in illegal fishing and selling will be spared and strict action will be taken in such cases.
