A sudden flood in Patogi village of Kotadhar, under Tehsil Au of Mandi district, caused havoc on Wednesday night. However, a major accident was averted by the understanding of the villagers during this period.
According to the information, at around 2 o’clock in the night, the people of the village were in deep sleep. In the same way, debris started coming into the Patogi drain gradually.
Listening to the sounds coming from the drain, the locals immediately woke up and came out to take stock of the situation. He noticed that the flow of water in the drain was intensifying and a large amount of debris was also flowing with him.
On seeing this, water and debris were filled on the road, causing the road to the village completely shut down. Seeing this, there was an atmosphere of panic among the villagers.
Due to this flood, debris entered about 5 houses in Patogi village. However, due to the solidarity of the villagers and the steps taken in time, the debris could not reach other houses in the village. When the flood waters decreased in the morning, the villagers breathed a sigh of relief. At present, there was no loss of life in this natural disaster, but many houses have been damaged.
