Shimla: A free cataract screening camp for senior citizens will be organised at Civil Hospital, Sunni, on March 3, 2026, Tehsil Welfare Officer Satish Sharma said on Friday.
He said the camp is being held under the joint aegis of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department and the Health and Family Welfare Department. Senior citizens above 60 years of age will be screened free of cost.
Sharma added that patients diagnosed with cataract will undergo free surgery at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Shimla. Selected patients will also be provided free transportation to and from the hospital for the procedure.
He appealed to residents to ensure maximum participation and encourage elderly persons to avail themselves of the facility at Civil Hospital, Sunni, on March 3.
