Shimla, Senior BJP State Spokesperson Trilok Kapoor said that November 15th is celebrated as Tribal Pride Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda. Numerous programs have been organized across the state and country to mark this occasion, but it would have been better if the Congress government had also organized these programs and actively participated in them. He said that whenever central programs are held, even if it is International Yoga Day, the Congress party and its government collectively ignore them.
He stated that the Ministry of Tribal Affairs is establishing 11 museums to commemorate various tribal movements and rebellions against British rule and to promote their cultures and history, providing valuable information about this significant event to the youth and people from all walks of life. He stated that India’s tribal leaders played a crucial role in resisting oppressive British rule and the feudal system. Many of these rebellions, uprisings, and movements have received little representation in mainstream Indian history, although they played a significant role in shaping today’s India. The government’s decision to establish museums to preserve, document, and disseminate information related to tribal leaders and to raise public awareness about these movements is welcome.
He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Bhagwan Birsa Munda Tribal Freedom Fighter Museum, Ranchi, Jharkhand on 15 November 2021. Born in Ulihatu village, Jharkhand, Birsa Munda led the Ulgulan or “Maha-Ugra” (1899-1900), a militant movement for tribal self-governance and the restoration of Khuntakatti (community land rights). As a spiritual reformer and freedom fighter, he united the Munda tribes against British land laws and feudal exploitation. Known as Dharti Aba (“Father of the Earth”), Birsa Munda envisioned a moral, self-governing society free from colonial influence. He was martyred at the age of 25 after being imprisoned in Ranchi jail.

BJP’s landslide victory in Bihar has scared Congress: Kapoor
Senior BJP spokesperson Trilok Kapoor said that given the BJP’s landslide victory in Bihar and the Congress party’s crushing defeat, the dynamics in Himachal Pradesh appear to be completely tilted against the Congress party. The Congress party’s performance was that of a regional party, where it fielded candidates in 60 seats and won only six. This trend means that the Congress party will win only five seats in Himachal Pradesh in 2027.
