The proposed G20 meeting on April 19 and 20 will be held at Hotel Radisson Blu. Although it has not been officially confirmed yet, but the team that took stock of the preparations for the conference has sealed Hotel Radisson Blu for the meeting. It may be noted that the team headed by Elramesh Babu, Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs had reached Dharamshala to take stock of the preparations. During this, the team also visited other hotels including HPCA Stadium and Hotel Radisson Blu. But now the team is in favor of holding the G-20 summit meetings at Hotel Radisson Blu. In this context, District Collector Kangra Dr. Nipun Jindal said that the team has identified the G-20 meeting to be held at Hotel Radisson Blu, but it has not yet been officially confirmed. He told that the district administration is ready for the G-20 conference. The district administration has formed committees for the successful organization of the conference. It should be noted that in G-20, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States and the European Union are included. Around 70 delegates from these countries are likely to participate during this period.
The district administration has fixed the responsibilities of various departments regarding the successful organization of the proposed G-20 meeting on April 19 and 20 at Dharamshala in district Kangra. For the successful conduct of the G-20 meeting, a meeting was organized under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Nipun Jindal at DC Office Dharamshala on Friday regarding the responsibilities of various departments and the tasks expected of them. During this, instructions were given after discussing about the role of various departments and the arrangements to be made through them in the proposed G-20 meeting in Kangra.
In the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner held a series of discussion with all the departments regarding their responsibilities in the G-20 summit. He said that the latest research and innovations under the Research and Innovation Initiative gathering will be discussed in the meeting on April 19-20 in Dharamshala. Selected scientists, policy makers and experts from many countries of the world will come to Dharamshala to participate in it. He said that during this time we have to work with full devotion to provide all possible cooperation and arrangements for the successful conduct of the G-20 meeting. Dr. Nipun Jindal said that it is a matter of pride that Dharamshala has been chosen for the G-20 meeting. This opportunity will give us an opportunity to introduce our guests to the cultural uniqueness, diversity and beauty of Kangra and Himachal. Responsibilities of the departments on accommodation, transport, health and security arrangements for the participants were fixed during the G-20 meeting. Along with this, the plan prepared for his reception and tour was also discussed.
Instructions were also given to the departments regarding branding of the meeting programme, media coverage, decoration, exhibition and cultural programs for the guests, gala dinner and souvenirs to be given. The Deputy Commissioner asked the officials of the National Highway and Public Works Department to complete the repair and beautification work of the roads in time. He also asked the Municipal Corporation to speed up the works of drains and complete them on time and gave instructions to pay special attention to cleanliness. Dr. Nipun Jindal fixed the role of the concerned departments on all arrangements including electricity, water, internet connectivity and gave necessary instructions. Additional Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Jassal, Additional District Magistrate Rohit Rathore, Additional Superintendent of Police Badri Singh, Assistant Commissioner Subhash Gautam, SDM Shilpi Bekta, CMO Dr. Sushil Sharma and officers of other departments were present in the meeting.
