Youth Red Cross (YRC) students of Government Girls College, (RKMV) Shimla today visited Raj Bhavan and interacted with Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla. Lady Governor Janaki Shukla was also present on the occasion. The students shared their experiences with the Governor and expressed their gratitude to him for opening the Raj Bhavan to the general public.
On the occasion, the Governor briefed the students about the glorious history of India. This building of Barnes Court, which was once under the Britisher’s is today a heritage building open for the people from all walks of life, he said.
The Governor encouraged the students to participate in Youth Red Cross, NSS and NCC activities which were necessary for discipline and spirit of service. He said that the Red Cross was expanding its sphere and activities in the State and this was only one service-oriented organization.
He expressed happiness over the cleanliness drive carried out by the students on their way to Raj Bhawan.
Earlier, Dr. Gopal Chauhan, Principal of the College and Professor Smt. Anurita Saxena presented a check of Rs 21,500 to the Governor towards the State Red Cross Society, on behalf of the teachers and students of the college.
On the occasion, Smt. Anurita Saxena welcomed the Governor and briefed about the Youth Red Cross activities being carried out in the college.
