National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers who are participating in the Republic Day Parade at the Ridge Shimla visited Raj Bhavan today and interacted with the Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla. About 100 NSS students selected from different districts of the State are participating in the camp organized in Shimla from January 18th which will conclude on January 27th.
The Governor said that the essence of NSS lies in its motto: “Not Me, But You.” This simple yet profound statement encapsulates the core philosophy of selfless service and emphasizes the importance of placing the needs of others above one’s own, he added. He said that through NSS, young people were provided with a platform to engage in activities that address the critical needs of the community, be it in the realms of education, healthcare, environmental sustainability or social welfare. Emphasizing on moral education and overall development of students, the Governor said that NSS works as a social organization, which is linked to the spirit of service.
Earlier, Camp Commander, Mukesh Salaria welcomed the Governor and Parade Commander, Ram Bhaj presented a vote of thanks.
The volunteers also presented NSS songs and cultural programmes on the occasion.
Secretary to the Governor, Rajesh Sharma was also present on the occasion.
