Shimla, April 14 – Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla said that Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R Ambedkar was not only the man of age and builder of Indian Constitution but also the creator of social justice and betterment of the downtrodden. He said that Dr. Ambedkar does not belong to any one class but is a great man of the entire humanity and the world, who gave the message of equality which was more relevant today.
The Governor was presiding over a function organised by Samajik Dalit Peedit Utthan Sansthan on the occasion of 133rd birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar at Kala Kendra in Solan, today.
The Governor said that besides being the architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr. Ambedkar worked seamlessly for ensuring social justice to the people and dedicated his life for the betterment of the poor, the exploited and the downtrodden. He emphasised upon spreading his message of brotherhood, his thoughts and principles, particularly against social discrimination. He said that when the Constitution of India was adopted, the citizens of India had entered a new constitutional, scientific, self-governing and modern India with peace, civility and progress. This is a unique document for which we can’t forget the great contribution of Baba Saheb, he added.
The Governor said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave this great personality of the country the place he deserved. The pilgrimage sites associated with Baba Saheb were developed as ‘Panchteerth’ so that the memories of Baba Saheb remain immortal and future generations can learn from his penance and sacrifice.
He said that Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s message of equality, social justice and individual freedom was more relevant today. His life and work inspire millions across the world, and his legacy will always be remembered as a beacon of hope for the downtrodden and underprivileged sections of society.
On the occasion, the Governor honoured persons doing exceptional work in their respective fields which included Krishan Lal Sehgal, Kulrakesh Pant, Dr. Yograj, Twinkle Sharma and Lagan Singh.
Earlier, Founder President of Samajik Dalit Peedit Utthan Sansthan and former Member of Parliament Virendra Kashyap honoured the Governor and said that we were moving forward on the Constitution given to the country by Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. He said that he was a great economist, ambassador of social revolution and educationist and people of all religions believed him equally.
Prof. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Y.S. of Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry said on the occasion that we got the knowledge, research, and experience of Dr. Ambedkar in the form of constitution. Only by following his thoughts, we could make the dream of one India come true, he added.
Narendra Singh Ghumman, Managing Director of Shivalik-by-Metal said that the power of knowledge was the most powerful tool, which was proved by Ambedkar.
Poonam Grover, Mayor, Municipal Corporation Solan, Manmohan Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Virendra Sharma, Superintendent of Police, Dr. V.P. Sharma, Director of Mushroom Research Centre, representatives of religious and social organizations and other prominent people were also present on the occasion.
