Directs to maintain the roads on priority
Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla said that during the recent disaster in Himachal, all the officers, employees and people did commendable relief and rescue work, as a result of which Himachal Pradesh emerging from the disaster is fast moving on the path of development again.
The Governor was presiding over the review meeting of various centrally sponsored schemes in Solan district here today.
Speaking on the ill-effects of drug addiction, the Governor said that to control drug abuse, people will have to come forward and unite hands with the Government to root-out the evil of drugs from the society and create awareness up till the village level. He said that as the Solan district was considered a hub of education the district and police administration needs to be more active and vigilant keeping an eye on the drug peddlers and aware the youth following prey to the drugs.
The Governor said that the objective of this meeting was to review the development schemes being implemented in Solan district. He said that the industrial belt of Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh area of the district was being transformed into the pharma hub of the state. The quality of medicines being produced here should meet world class standards. He instructed the Deputy Commissioner Solan to monitor the quality control of the medicines being produced in this pharma hub of the state.
The Governor directed the Public Works Department to refurbish the roads damaged due to the disaster and monsoon rains as soon as possible to ensure the smooth flow of the traffic. He said that Solan district was also a gateway to Himachal and the roads should give a better look and be well maintained.
Shri Shukla directed to complete various centrally sponsored schemes well within time so that funds could be received from the Central Government as per the progress. He expressed satisfaction over the implementation of various centrally sponsored schemes in the district.
It was informed in the review meeting that more than 90 percent of the works under various centrally sponsored schemes have been completed in Solan district.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Manmohan Sharma welcomed the Governor and gave detailed information about the progress of various schemes being implemented at the district level.
Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Solan Zafar Iqbal and senior officials of various departments were also present in the meeting.
