Sirmaur: Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur visited various areas of Sirmaur district, meeting with people, listening to their problems, and assuring them of solutions. During his visit, he first visited the Mata Maa Bhangayani Devi temple, where he offered prayers during Navratri and prayed for the well-being of the people of the state. In Chauras, Shri Renuka Assembly constituency, he listened to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s most popular “Mann Ki Baat” program and met with local people. Subsequently, during his visit to Sirmaur, he visited various areas of Shri Renuka and Pachhad Assembly constituencies, and met with people. He addressed seminars on Next Generation GST reforms in Nauhradhar and Rajgarh. Jai Ram Thakur said that Next Generation GST is the biggest gift given to the country by any government. Since the implementation of this GST, people are saving more than 50,000 rupees on the purchase of even a simple four-wheeler. People are also saving at least 10,000 rupees on the purchase of a motorcycle. Thirty-one medicines, widely used to treat life-threatening diseases like cancer and thalassemia, have been excluded from the scope of GST. Most household products are subject to 5% or zero percent GST. Along with GST, the Modi government has also raised the income tax threshold to 12.75 lakh rupees. These two reforms alone will save citizens 2.5 lakh crore rupees annually.
Addressing the public meeting, Jairam Thakur said that the goods on which the people of the country and the state were subject to a 30% tax under the UPA government led by Manmohan Singh are now subject to a 5% tax. During the UPA regime, goods like paint, detergent, shampoo, coffee, toothpaste, mineral water, and cosmetics were taxed at 30%, but under the Next Generation GST, these goods are now taxed at only 5%. He stated that the current Sukhu government in the state is anti-people. The Modi government reduced the GST on cement by 10%, providing relief of ₹40 per bag of cement to the people of the state. However, the Sukhu government overnight increased the Additional Goods Tax by ₹5. Previously, the government had already increased the Additional Goods Tax on cement by ₹4. Similarly, since coming to power, the Sukhu government has already dealt a blow to the people of the state by increasing the price of diesel by ₹6.5. This government is working against the state in every respect and as a well-wisher of its friends.
The entire country is happy with the Next Generation GST, only Congress leaders are unhappy. They have squeezed the country by imposing numerous taxes and cesses. Just as Prime Minister Narendra Modi realized the dream of “One Nation, One Prime Minister, and One Flag” by abolishing Article 370, he also implemented GST to provide the entire country with the benefits of one nation and one tax. The Modi government is ensuring a simple tax system and affordable goods for citizens, but in states where Congress is in power, inflation is being increased and people are being harassed by imposing additional taxes. Former minister and MLA Sukhram Chaudhary, Pachhad MLA Reena Kashyap, former MLA Baldev Tomar, former BJP candidate from Renukaji, Narayan Singh, District President Dheeraj Gupta, and other officials and workers were present at all the events.
Congressmen, fed up with Congress’s failures, joined the BJP.
Jai Ram Thakur inducted Congress workers in Shri Renuka Ji Assembly constituency, who were fed up with the failures of the Congress, into the Bharatiya Janata Party. Impressed by the public welfare policies of the BJP and the Prime Minister, all the Congress workers joined the BJP and expressed their faith in the party by supporting the public welfare schemes of the BJP. Thakur welcomed all the new workers and wished them well. On this occasion, he was accompanied by former minister and MLA Sukh Ram Chaudhary, former MLA Baldev Tomar,
Shri Renuka ji met the disaster affected people of Chauras village
Today I met the local people in Chauras village under Shri Renuka Ji’s assembly constituency and listened to their problems. Due to the recent heavy rains, this village is on the verge of sinking, due to which many families have to leave their homes and take shelter elsewhere. After listening to the plight of the villagers, I assured them of all possible help. The news of the sudden demise of the late Sheela Devi ji, a resident of the village, due to heavy rains and landslides a few days ago is very sad. Today I met her family members and expressed my condolences.
