15 December 2024 Shimla
In a statement issued from Shimla, former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur said that despite repeatedly giving assurance to the people of the state, the government turned around and has come up with a rule to recruit teachers under the Guest Teacher Policy. Under the guest teacher policy, teachers will teach students on hourly basis.
This matter had come to light earlier also, which was strongly opposed by the youth of the state, after which the government announced the withdrawal of this policy. After this, the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister of the state had also assured the youth of the state that the government will not bring any such policy which will be any kind of deception with the youth. Due to the failure of the government, parents are avoiding government schools in the state this session. This is the failure of the government because education of the people of the state is not the priority of the government. That is why the Sukhu government closed more than five hundred schools.
Jai Ram Thakur said that right from the assembly election campaign to the formation of the government, the representatives of the government told the youth of the state that they will be given permanent jobs with pension for a few years. Therefore, the youth of the state need not worry. Trust us. If the youth gave trust, what did they get in return from the government? At the time of elections, Congress made big promises. Despite the guarantee of providing one lakh jobs every year, the government is planning to provide jobs to the youth on hourly basis. It is condemnable for the government to take such steps even after giving assurance to the youth, students and parents of the state. It is a sin to run the government by lying and to break the trust of the youth by keeping them in their trust. Two years of the government’s tenure have passed, so now the government should focus on work instead of just paying lip service.
*Government should tell why admissions in government schools are decreasing*
The Leader of Opposition said that public interest and education are not the priority of the government, that is why the education system of the state is deteriorating day by day. The drop out rate of children in schools is going towards the abyss. The figures of the Elementary Education Department published in the news, along with revealing the reality of the Sukhu government, are also exposing the lies of the Chief Minister. The number of students taking admission in government schools in the state has reduced to almost half as compared to the previous government. In our government, the share of admission of students in government schools was 59 percent, which has come down to 32 percent in the government with the collapse of the system. The reason for this is that the state government could not win the trust of the parents, the main reason for this is the government not paying attention to education and the systems being in disarray. When the BJP government came to power, the share of students in admission in government schools was 48 percent, which was increased to 59 percent by our government. Therefore, there is a request to the government that instead of talking here and there, the government should work seriously
