Hamirpur
A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon in Bailag village, under the Bhoranj police station limits of Hamirpur district. Somlata (52), wife of ex-serviceman Vipin Kumar, was brutally murdered by an unknown assailant on the second floor of their home. The incident occurred around 12:30 pm, spreading panic throughout the area.
According to reports, Somlata was eating dinner with her son, Abhay Kumar (22), on the second floor. The attacker drugged Abhay, rendering him unconscious, and then struck the woman on the head with a heavy object, killing her.
Family members called out for the couple for a long time, but received no response. When the door was opened, the mother and son were found unconscious in the room. Somlata was immediately taken to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Deep wounds were found on the victim’s head and bleeding from both ears.
Police arrived at the scene and began an investigation. DSP Lalman Sharma and Sub-Inspector Pratap inspected the scene and registered a murder case against the unknown assailant and sent the body to the district hospital for a post-mortem. No suspects have been arrested at this time.
