Himachal Power Corporation’s former director Deshraj did not get any relief from Himachal Pradesh High Court in the case related to the death of Chief Engineer Vimal Negi.
The applicant has filed an anticipatory bail petition in the High Court and demanded his release on anticipatory bail.The case was heard before Judge Virender Singh. After the hearing, the court said that on observing the record related to the investigation so far, the applicant is not entitled to any interim relief at present. The next hearing of the case will be on Monday.
The court has ordered the prosecution to file a supplementary status report.The government opposed the petition.At the same time, the government, while presenting its side in the court, opposed the petition and said that granting anticipatory bail to the petitioner may give him the courage to obstruct the process of justice, due to which the ongoing investigation may get derailed.
The applicant’s anticipatory bail plea was also opposed by Vimal Negi’s wife, and the applicant accused Deshraj of harassment and pressurizing him to get office-related work done in his own way.
Accusation of inciting Vimal
The body of Director Vimal Negi, who was the Chief Engineer of HPPCL and was missing since March 10, was found in Gobind sagar Lake in Bilaspur on March 18. After Negi’s disappearance, his wife wrote a letter to the Chief Minister and accused Power Corporation MD Harikesh Meena, Director Deshraj, and other high officials of harassing her husband.
Taking action on the complaint of Negi’s wife, former Director Deshraj, who was allegedly made an accused of inciting Vimal Negi to commit suicide.
