Solan: Under the Road Safety Awareness Campaign, a free eye check-up camp, road safety awareness programme, and blood donation camp were organized here today. The camp was inaugurated by Solan Deputy Commissioner Manmohan Sharma.
Addressing the gathering, Manmohan Sharma said that the health of drivers, conductors, and other transport workers plays a vital role in ensuring road safety. He stated that the objective of the programme is to spread awareness about road safety and encourage drivers and conductors to remain conscious about their health.
During the camp, specialists from the Health Department conducted detailed eye examinations of bus, truck, taxi, and auto drivers. Doctors also advised drivers to maintain proper eyesight to ensure road safety and shared tips on maintaining good health during long-distance driving.
Transport sector workers also donated blood during the camp as a gesture of service to humanity.
Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Solan, Kavita Thakur, said that the department’s initiative aims to raise maximum awareness about road safety and help reduce road accidents in the future.
Members of Himachal Road Transport Corporation, private bus operators, and representatives from truck, auto, and taxi unions participated in the camp.
