A meeting of the Petitions Committee of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania. The meeting began at 11:30 am in the main committee room of the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat and continued till around 1:20 pm.
Committee members Neeraj Nayar, Kamlesh Thakur and Anuradha Rana were present. Assembly Secretary Yashpal Sharma also attended the meeting.
Pathania said that 19 petitions were taken up during the meeting. These included 11 from the Revenue Department, 4 from the Forest Department, 1 from the Home Department and 3 from the Health Department.
Out of the 11 Revenue Department petitions, 5 were resolved during the meeting, while the remaining were kept pending till the next meeting with directions to officials for quick action. From the Forest Department, 2 out of 4 petitions were settled. The single petition related to the Home Department has been kept pending as the matter is under consideration in the High Court.
Three petitions of the Health Department were also discussed. One case was deferred for further review in the next meeting, and the other two were also kept pending.
Pathania informed that so far the committee has received 97 petitions, out of which 46 have now been resolved after settling 7 cases in this meeting. He said people who are not getting justice from departments can approach the committee for quick and free redressal of their grievances.
