Shoolini University took a step ahead in breaking societal taboos surrounding women’s health by organising a workshop titled “Her Story, Her Health: Tackling Menstrual Wellness, UTIs, and Mental Wellbeing Together.”.
The workshop was organised in collaboration with the women empowerment organisation ‘Lajja’.
The workshop, facilitated by ‘Lajja’, featured panel comprising Disha Sareen, co-founder at Lajja and founder of Hyper Lab (AI), Aastha Sharma, managing director at Lajja and a seasoned Australian registered nurse,
Dr. Piyush Juneja, an Ayurvedic medicine practitioner with 17 years of experience and Shreya Batra, an Australian registered psychologist. Each panellist brought a unique perspective and wealth of experience to the discussion, enriching the dialogue on menstrual wellness, UTIs, and mental wellbeing.
Aastha Sharma, with her 8 years of nursing school experience, shed light on the integration of physical and mental health, emphasising women’s well-being across diverse cultural contexts.
Disha Sareen, a dynamic entrepreneur, highlighted the intersection of technology and education in empowering women.
Dr. Piyush Juneja, esteemed in Ayurvedic medicine, offered invaluable insights into traditional health practices focusing on female health disorders.
Additionally, Shreya Batra, a seasoned clinical psychologist, emphasised the importance of addressing mental wellbeing, particularly for women post-childbirth.
The workshop provided a platform for open dialogue, shared experiences, and collective healing, with personalised one-on-one consultations available for attendees seeking guidance towards holistic well-being. Panellists addressed pertinent issues such as urinary tract infections (UTIs) and the importance of timely intervention. Dr. Juneja shared Ayurvedic remedies for infections while emphasising the critical need for changing sanitary pads regularly to prevent infections like toxic shock syndrome, a potentially fatal condition.
One of the remarkable aspects of the workshop was the active participation of men, signifying a positive shift in societal attitudes towards menstruation, UTIs, and women’s health.
Mrs. Poonam Nanda, Dean Student Welfare at Shoolini University, said that the university has always been on top about awareness and is a taboo-free campus in all terms.
The event concluded with an interactive session featuring quizzes on various topics, such as the menstrual cycle, PCOS, infections, and health. Winners were awarded gift hampers generously provided by sponsors including Boheco, Hempresso, Risen Hursini, Indianvaidyas, Hyper Lab, Dainik Bhaskar, Daily Hunt, and Divya Himachal TV.
