Shimla, Feb 17,
Himachal Pradesh Government announced to provide Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs. 55 per kg on milk; however, if farmers would get more than MSP, they would be free to sell the milk in the open market.
This was announced by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu in the state assembly while presenting the budget estimates for the financial year 2024-25. The state Government would provide additional allocation to the farmers, amounting to Rs. 150 Cr, to purchase the milk at the MSP. He said that under Operation Ganga, a Rs. 1.50 Cr plant would be set up in the Kangra district. A refrigerator van would be provided to farmers to carry the milk to the nearest pasteurization plant. 44 mobile vans would be hired to provide health facilities to livestock at their doorstep, and every hospital would be staffed with a veterinary doctor. The vans could be called using a toll-free number by milk producers.
