The State has set up an oxygen control room for monitoring and storage of medical oxygen health facility wise and restriction of the industrial usage of oxygen. The control room shall ensure that all possible steps are taken across the State to ensure optimum rationalized usage of available oxygen. Also prudent steps shall be taken to restrict the
industrial usage of oxygen and to meet the rising demand of medical oxygen.
The information of oxygen status of all the COVID Dedicated facilities across the state will be monitored by the Control Room through the IT based application on a real time basis to ensure that immediate corrective action may be taken if there is any shortage of
oxygen at any health facilities. This control room shall have Arindam Chaudhary, MD HPSEDC, Sunny Sharma, GM HP KVN, Rakhi, Jt. Director Ayurveda and Dr. Jitender Chauhan, Dy. Director Health Service as Nodal Officer.

In addition, it was informed that guidelines for rational use of oxygen have also been issued to all the health facilities to promote judicious use of oxygen therapy in individual
cases and to enhance accountability for oxygen conservation through monitoring and audit without compromising quality of care.
This include the regulation of oxygen to the lowest permissible level to target an oxygen saturation of 92-94% for hospitalized COVID-19 patients, avoid indiscriminate use of BIPAP/ HFNC and use of prone positioning and other physiotherapy to optimize the respiratory status. The facilities
have also been asked to constitute oxygen audit committees for supervising inventory planning, oxygen consumption pattern atleast twice a week.
It was further informed by the Spokesperson that the Governmetn of India has sanctioned 6 more PSA plants at ZH Mandi, CH Palampur, MGMSC Khaneri, CH Rohru, RH Solan and Dr. YSPGMC Nahan. These plants shall be of 1000 LPM and shall be established with the support of DRDO. It was also informed that ACC Cement Company at Bilaspur shall also establish a 10 Metric Ton PSA plant at RH Bilaspur
under CSR.
In a related development it was informed by the Government Spokesperson that the Government has decided to include the media persons and the Judicial Officers as
Front Line Workers for the purpose of COVID-19 vaccination. It was further informed that the powers of notification of Dedicated COVID Hospital and Dedicated COVID Health Centre which were earlier with the Director Health Services have now been
decentralized and now Deputy Commissioners have been empowered to notify these hospital at their own level to cut down the administrative time required for response in this second wave of COVID-19 in the State.
