Himachal Pradesh is bracing for another spell of severe weather as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for heavy rainfall and intense snowfall in higher reaches from January 26 to 28, 2026, due to an active western disturbance.

In view of the warning, the state government has directed all districts to remain on high alert. District Disaster Management Authorities have been asked to maintain 24×7 monitoring, activate emergency response plans, and ensure timely public advisories.
The Public Works Department has been instructed to keep machinery ready for road restoration and snow clearance, while the Power Department has been asked to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply. The Jal Shakti Department has also been directed to maintain smooth drinking water services.
Meanwhile, the Police and Tourism Department have been told to strengthen traffic management and issue travel advisories for tourists.
All departments have been asked to coordinate with the State and District Emergency Operation Centres (SEOC/DEOC) and share daily situation reports. The administration has appealed to residents to avoid unnecessary travel during bad weather and strictly follow official advisories.
