Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to flood-affected areas of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab on Sunday. PM Modi today conducted an aerial survey of the damage caused by floods and landslides in Kullu, Mandi and Chamba districts by helicopter. After taking stock of the disaster situation, the Prime Minister reached Kangra Airport, from here he reached Dharamshala, where he is chairing a high-level meeting related to the disaster.
In this meeting, Himachal’s Sukhu government will apprise PM Modi about the disaster in the state through a presentation. At the same time, CM Sukhu will request the Prime Minister to give a special package to Himachal and relax the rules to provide relief to the disaster-affected people.
Met disaster victims
After the meeting in Dharamshala, PM Modi met 18 flood-affected people from Mandi, Kullu and Chamba districts and inquired about their well-being. During this, he also met one-year-old Nitika, who lost her parents and grandmother in the flood in Mandi. On June 30, Nitika’s mother, father, and grandmother died in the flood due to a cloudburst in Mandi. Now Nitika is living with her aunt. The Prime Minister first gave a toffee to Nitika and then took her in his lap.
Himachali food served to PM
Himachali food was served to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Food arrangements were made for Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Kangra airport itself. Himachali food was served to him for lunch at the Kangra airport. The chef of Himachal Tourism Development Corporation had prepared this food keeping in mind the safety standards.
Meeting going on in Dharamshala
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, Minister Yadvinder Goma, Agriculture Minister Chaudhary Chandra Kumar, Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Education Secretary Rakesh Kanwar, State BJP President Dr. Rajiv Bindal and many senior officials are present in the meeting going on in Dharamshala. The damage caused by the disaster, the progress of relief work and future challenges are being discussed in detail in the meeting. During this, the strategy for reconstruction work is also being brainstormed by establishing better coordination between the Center and the State.
After the Dharamshala meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will go to Gurdaspur in Punjab. Here he will meet the flood-affected families and know their problems. This visit of the PM is considered important in speeding up the relief and rehabilitation schemes for the affected areas.
