The industrial area of Baddi in Himachal Pradesh has once again fallen into the red zone due to pollution. The Air Quality Index (AQI) here has crossed 300, even though it had dropped below 300 just two days ago. Similar to other major cities in the country, Baddi is also experiencing frequent spikes in pollution levels, reaching the red zone repeatedly. On Tuesday, the AQI in Baddi was recorded at 312. This is causing breathing difficulties for the residents, especially patients, children, and the elderly.
On December 29th, the AQI here was recorded at 330, and on December 28th, it was 273. Besides Baddi, the pollution level has also increased in Kala Amb, where the AQI was recorded at 217, which falls under the “poor” category. Just two days ago, the AQI here was below 200, indicating a moderate level. The pollution levels in Paonta Sahib, Barotiwala, and Nalagarh remain moderate.
In Paonta Sahib, the AQI was recorded at 188, in Barotiwala at 133, and in Nalagarh at 121. The air quality in four other cities – Parwanoo, Una, Dharamshala, and Damtal – is satisfactory. The AQI in Parwanoo was 63, in Una 78, in Damtal 55, and in Dharamshala 62. The good news is that the air quality in three cities of the state is good for health. These include Shimla, Manali, and Sundernagar. The AQI in Shimla was 35, in Sundernagar 43, and in Manali 43.
