Shimla
In the midst of Himachal Pradesh’s continuous fight against drug trafficking, a shocking revelation was revealed. An employee of CID has been taken into custody by Shimla Police in connection with an interstate chitta smuggling ring investigation. Rajat, who was now serving in Shimla, has been recognized as the culprit. He was formerly assigned to the district police as well. The police claim that this move was made because they discovered evidence of questionable activity in his bank accounts throughout the inquiry. The accused is being questioned, and the police are thoroughly looking into his role.
Sources claim that the State CID has been made aware of the situation as well and has begun an inquiry at its level. An internal probe is underway in this respect, according to a senior CID officer who spoke on condition of anonymity. Sandeep Shah, the gang’s leader, and a number of women are among the 69 accused who have been taken into custody thus far. A supplemental charge sheet will now be submitted against the remaining defendants after a charge sheet was filed against 59 of them.
According to a police probe, Sandeep Shah was operating a narcotics’ operation out of Delhi while residing in Kolkata. He used to recruit young people who were unemployed and addicted to drugs into the gang, transport them to Shimla, and then conceal them in strategic locations to obtain the narcotics.
He continued to use technology to operate the company.
Sandeep Shah, a software engineer, continued using technological knowledge to smuggle chitta for a long time. He used to transmit locations and videos to complete the supply after receiving online payments from the customers. He concealed his identity by using a virtual number and the dark web.
SP Shimla Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi said that the police campaign against drugs is continuing. The arrest of the CID employee in this case makes it clear that no one is above the law. In the future also, the accused will be exposed by reaching the root of the drug.
