The Department of Industries, Government of Himachal Pradesh, stole the spotlight during the State-level Republic Day celebrations at the historic Ridge Ground in Shimla, as its vibrant tableau became one of the most admired attractions of the event.
Showcasing the success story of HIM MSME Fest 2026, the tableau offered a powerful glimpse into the State’s growing industrial journey—where tradition and innovation go hand in hand. The key highlight was the stunning display celebrating the weaving of 4,023 handloom shawls, a remarkable achievement that earned Himachal Pradesh a Guinness World Record and brought national attention to the unmatched talent of the State’s artisan community.
Industries Minister Shri Harshvardhan Chauhan, while addressing the gathering, said the tableau reflected Himachal’s expanding industrial strength and its move towards self-reliance and sustainable growth. He noted that the handloom milestone and various departmental initiatives were symbols of steady progress and empowerment.
Additional Chief Secretary (Industries) Shri R.D. Najeem described the tableau as a reflection of Himachal’s forward-looking industrial policy, where traditional strengths are being promoted through modern platforms. He added that HIM MSME Fest 2026 proved how institutional support can transform local enterprises into globally recognised success stories.
Commissioner of Industries Dr Yunus highlighted the festival’s larger impact, stating that it offered MSMEs an effective platform to present their products, ideas, and innovations to wider audiences, ensuring a strong connection between heritage and entrepreneurship-led development.
Along with handloom achievements, the tableau also highlighted successful startups, flagship schemes, and key policy-driven accomplishments, which received wide appreciation from spectators. The display further presented major initiatives such as CEO interaction meets, One District One Product (ODOP), women entrepreneurship programmes, and startup-focused sessions, showcasing their role in driving new investment opportunities across the State.
Additional Director of Industries Shri Tilak Raj Sharma shared that structured engagement with industry leaders, district-specific product promotion, and dedicated support for women entrepreneurs and innovators have created a strong ecosystem for future investment, which is expected to strengthen Himachal’s economy in the coming years.
Overall, the tableau successfully conveyed Himachal Pradesh’s vision of inclusive, innovation-led and sustainable industrial growth, reinforcing the State’s commitment to long-term economic resilience and enterprise-driven progress.
