The air quality in Baddi, the industrial area of Himachal Pradesh, has deteriorated again. The Air Quality Index (AQI) level here has crossed 200. Four days ago, Baddi’s AQI was recorded at 193. Furthermore, the AQI levels in Shimla and Dharamshala have not improved; they remain in the satisfactory category. On Sunday, the AQI in the industrial area of Baddi was recorded at 240. On December 10th, the AQI in Baddi was less than 200. Therefore, the air quality in Baddi is not good for health, especially for children, the elderly, and people suffering from respiratory illnesses.
In addition, the air quality in Kala Amb, Barotiwala, and Nalagarh remained moderate. The AQI was recorded at 149 in Kala Amb, 122 in Barotiwala, and 105 in Nalagarh. The air quality in Shimla and Dharamshala remains satisfactory. The AQI levels were recorded at 60 in Shimla, 58 in Dharamshala, 80 in Una, 63 in Damtal, 100 in Paonta Sahib, and 51 in Parwanoo.
Only two cities in Himachal Pradesh have good air quality, meaning it is healthy. These two cities are Sundernagar and Manali. The AQI was recorded at 46 in Sundernagar and 48 in Manali. An AQI of 0 to 50 is considered good, 50 to 100 is satisfactory, 100 to 200 is moderate, 200 to 300 is poor, and an AQI of 300 to 400 falls into the very poor category. An AQI above 400 is considered very severe.
