To enhance students’ knowledge of India’s diverse culture and history, the Department of History, Chitrakoot School of Liberal Arts, Shoolini University, organised a History Quiz Competition with the theme of “Re-Visiting India.”
Five teams participated in the quiz, namely, Team Adishankara with Nikita and Madhavi (BA II Sem); Team Bhagat Pipa with Aman and Prince (BA IV Sem); Team Chaitanya with Varun and Ankur (BALLLB IV Sem); Team Dadu Dayal with Ayush and Mahademo (BA II Sem); and Team Ekanath Sant with Reshav (MA II Sem) and Nazrana (Ph.D. Biotech). All the team names were named after the Bhakti saints of India.
The quiz comprises five rounds in total, in which each team was asked two questions per round. The questions were even passed to the audience when the teams could not answer. Each of the five rounds also had an expert, namely, Prof. Manju Jaidka, Dean of Faculty of Liberal Arts and Ancient Indian Wisdom, Dr. Prakash Chand, Assistant Professor of Hindi, Mr. Neeraj Pizar, Assistant Professor of English, Dr Sakshi Sundaram, Assistant Professor of English, Dr Siddharth Dadhwal, Assistant Professor of Political Science.
The quiz was hosted by Dr. Ekta Singh, Assistant Professor of History, and Mr Samrat Sharma, Assistant Professor of English. The winner of the closely fought competition was Team Adishankara, and the runners-up were Team Chaitanya and Team Eknath Sant. The event was well-conducted, and the participants, as well as the audience, showed great enthusiasm throughout the competition.
The event concluded with Prof. Manju Jaidka’s words of encouragement to the students and well-deserved praise of the participants by Dr. Purnima Bali, Associate Professor of English. The Department of History will continue to host such events in the near future and will spread its wings with the support of the students and faculty of Liberal Arts.
