On the first winter session of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, the Sukhu government is set to present four amendment bills. One of these bills pertains to amending the Land Ceiling Act to provide relief to the Radha Swami Satsang Beas, enabling the transfer of ownership of the Bota Hospital. Additionally, an important amendment regarding the service conditions of employees will also be introduced. Similarly, amendments related to the police and Panchayati Raj will be presented. Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi will introduce the bill related to the Land Ceiling Act in the House, which will attract significant attention.
The bill to amend the Land Ceiling Act will be placed on the table by Revenue Minister Jagat Negi. Dera Beas wishes for the land ownership of the Bota Hospital in Hamirpur to be transferred to its sister organization, Maharaj Jagat Singh Medical Relief Society. To facilitate this, it is essential to amend the Land Ceiling Act. However, these amendments are not an easy task for the government, as there is no consensus among the ministers in the cabinet on this issue. Currently, only Dera Beas has an exemption under the Land Ceiling Act in Himachal. Dera Beas owns around 4,000 bigha of land in the state. Earlier, in 2017, Dera Beas had also sought permission from the government to sell surplus land, but the issue did not progress.
Dera Beas has received an exemption under the Land Ceiling Act, but the condition is that it cannot transfer the land, mortgage it, or grant it on lease or gift deed
