Notification issued under Panchayati Raj Act; public objections and suggestions invited
Shimla, March 2
The Himachal Pradesh Government has issued a detailed notification proposing the bifurcation, reorganisation and formation of new Gram Sabha areas in Solan district. The notification has been issued by the Panchayati Raj Department under the provisions of the Himachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj Act, 1994
According to the notification, several existing Gram Sabha areas across different development blocks including Kandaghat, Dharampur, Kunihar, Nalagarh and others are proposed to be reorganised. The restructuring includes division of certain Gram Sabhas, creation of new Gram Sabhas and redistribution of villages for better administrative efficiency and effective grassroots governance.
The proposal outlines detailed village-wise adjustments, specifying which villages will remain in existing Gram Sabhas and which will be included in newly proposed units. The reorganisation is aimed at improving public service delivery, ensuring balanced population distribution and strengthening local self-governance.
The state government has invited objections and suggestions from residents and stakeholders of the concerned Gram Sabha areas within the stipulated time frame. Any representation received within the prescribed period will be examined before issuing the final notification.
The Deputy Commissioner, Solan, along with Block Development Officers and Panchayat Secretaries, has been directed to ensure wide publicity of the notification and facilitate the process of receiving public feedback.
After reviewing objections and suggestions, the government will take a final decision regarding the reorganisation and formal establishment of the proposed Gram Sabhas.
