To recognize the value of milk globally , Himachal Pradesh Milkfed is going to celebrate World Milk Day on June 1,2023 at the Ridge Shimla .
Bhupender Attri , Managing Director ,Milkfed said the milk is rich in calcium, which promotes healthy teeth and bones. The reason commemoration of the day is to remind us the importance of milk to our daily living. This year the theme is to highlight how dairy has reduced its impact on the environment while offering nutritional foods and livelihoods, he added.
He said that the World Milk Day is to look at the entire dairy value chain and the challenges bedeviling sufficient local milk production which includes; poor milk collection and cold chain logistics systems, low cattle reproductive health, sparse adoption of modern dairy farming techniques among the dairy farmers within the state.
Attri added that the major reason for this upcoming event is to create awareness about the benefit of dairy product and push for increased consumption for a healthy nation.
In 2001, World Milk Day was introduced by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations to recognize the importance of milk as a global food, and to celebrate the dairy sector, every year on 1 June
