Shimla, March 25: The Himachal Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (HPERC) has announced a marginal reduction of 1 paise per unit in electricity tariffs for 2026–27, offering slight relief to consumers while keeping overall rates largely stable.
As per the tariff order issued on March 25, the average cost of supply has been fixed at ₹6.75 per unit for FY27, marginally lower than ₹6.76 per unit in the previous financial year.
The Commission has estimated the Annual Revenue Requirement (ARR) of the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL) at ₹8,636.16 crore for 2026–27, compared to ₹8,403.25 crore in FY26, after adjusting past financial parameters and performance reviews.
The revised tariffs, effective from April 1, 2026, will apply across all consumer categories. Domestic lifeline consumers (0–60 units) will be charged ₹4.71 per unit, while other domestic users will pay ₹5.44 per unit up to 125 units and ₹5.89 per unit beyond that.
Agricultural consumers will pay ₹5.03 per unit, while commercial tariffs range between ₹6.11 and ₹6.39 per unit depending on load. Industrial tariffs remain in the range of ₹5.45 to ₹5.85 per unit, while EV charging has been fixed at ₹6.78 per unit.
The Commission said the nominal reduction reflects efforts to balance consumer interests with the financial sustainability of the power utility, without imposing any major burden on users.
