The Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board today organized a program in Haripur Gram Panchayat of Kasauli Assembly Constituency of Solan District to make people aware of the various schemes of the Board. Kasauli MLA Vinod Sultanpuri was present as the chief guest in the program. Board Chairman Nardev Singh Kanwar specially attended the program and provided detailed information about the various schemes of the Board.
In the program, assistance of Rs 25 lakh was provided to about 150 registered beneficiaries of Kasauli assembly constituency under various welfare schemes. This assistance was provided with the aim of improving the living standards of workers and their families under scholarship, marriage grant, housing grant etc.
Kasauli MLA Vinod Sultanpuri said that the state government is implementing many welfare schemes for every section of the society. He said that the schemes of other Nirman Shramik Kalyan Board are proving helpful in providing timely benefits to the eligible workers.
Vinod Sultanpuri said that the state government is making efforts to resolve the problems of the people in a timely manner and balanced development is being ensured under the energetic leadership of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu.
The MLA urged people to get information about the various schemes of the state government and take advantage of them. He said that information about schemes is available at the district level, sub-division level, block level and village level and people should take advantage of them.
Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board Chairman Nardev Singh Kanwar said that Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Thakur is committed to building a self-reliant Himachal and under his leadership it is being ensured that various welfare schemes of the government benefit the eligible people on time. He said that the purpose of this awareness program is to connect eligible construction workers with various schemes being implemented by the board so that the eligible are not deprived of getting benefits.
He said that 14 schemes of the state government are proving to be important for providing social security to building and other construction workers. Through these schemes, help is being provided in bringing about an unprecedented improvement in the standard of living of eligible persons and providing them the right to live with dignity.
He said that there is a provision to provide financial assistance of up to Rs. 3 lakh for the construction of pucca houses to single women, widows, abandoned women and disabled women beneficiaries registered with the Board.
He urged the workers engaged in plumbing, electrician, fitting, masonry, carpentry and other building and construction works to register themselves with the Welfare Board so that the workers can avail the benefits of welfare schemes.
Nardev Singh Kanwar said that the state government is working for the empowerment of all sections of society including workers and with everyone’s cooperation it would be possible to create an ideal Himachal full of green energy.
Jagdish Chand Bhardwaj, member of the Board of Directors of Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board and State President of AITUC, also provided substantial information on the subject of workers welfare on this occasion.
