Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, celebrated National Sports Day on 29th August 2025 with great fervour and enthusiasm. Organized by the HPNLU Sports Committee, the celebration featured a series of spirited exhibition matches in cricket, men’s volleyball, women’s volleyball, futsal, badminton, and table tennis. The event witnessed active and energetic participation from students across the University, promoting the spirit of teamwork, discipline, and healthy competition.
To mark the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, also administered the Fit India Pledge to the students and faculty members, reaffirming the University’s dedication to fostering a culture of fitness, wellness, and healthy living on campus.
National Sports Day is celebrated annually on 29th August to commemorate the birth anniversary of the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, widely regarded as one of India’s greatest sporting icons. The day serves to highlight the importance of sports and physical activity in building a healthier and more cohesive society.
The exhibition matches conducted not only showcased the athletic prowess of the students but also reinforced the University’s commitment to holistic education. The initiative aimed to instil values of sportsmanship and physical well-being among the students, aligning with the vision of the University to foster all-round development.
