The university campus reverberated with patriotic spirit and national pride as it celebrated the 79th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and solemnity. The event was organized under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Vice-Chancellor, Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla.
The celebration commenced with the flag hoisting ceremony, conducted by Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, who unfurled the national flag amidst the resonating echoes of the National Anthem. In her inspiring address to the gathering, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor paid homage to the countless freedom fighters whose sacrifices laid the foundation of an independent and democratic India. She highlighted the role of educational institutions in nurturing responsible citizens who are committed to the ideals of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity as enshrined in the Constitution of India.
Prof. (Dr.) Saxena also urged students and faculty members to rededicate themselves to the values of integrity, unity, and academic excellence. She emphasized the significance of legal education in strengthening democratic institutions and upholding the rule of law in contemporary times. The event began with a welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) S.S. Jaswal, Registrar, HPNLU Shimla, who reflected on India’s journey since independence and the university’s role in contributing to nation-building through legal research, education, and public engagement.
The celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as students of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The programme was organized by the Students’ Enrichment Cell of the university, which meticulously coordinated the event, ensuring an atmosphere of dignity, discipline, and celebration in alignment with the spirit of the day.
