The Centre for Human Rights and Disability Studies (CHRDS) at Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, in collaboration with the Student Enrichment Cell, organized a successful debate competition titled “Debate for Change” on 24th September 2025. The competition, held under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of HPNLU, focused on the thought-provoking motion: “Balancing AI and Human Intelligence: Should Regulation be enforced to Protect Human Dignity?” The event saw active participation, with students engaging in a critical exchange of ideas at the intersection of law, ethics, and technology. The debate emphasized the importance of safeguarding human dignity amidst the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence.
The debate was adjudicated by distinguished judges, Dr. Honey Kumar and Dr. Narinder Pal, who provided insightful feedback, contributing to the event’s educational value. The winners of the competition were Ayush Kumar (1st Place), Morvi Sharma (2nd Place), and Ayush Sharma & Vanshika Bangar (3rd Place). The event was organized by Dr. Sachin Sharma, Faculty Director, Centre for Human Rights and Disability Studies, Ms. Ashpinder Kaur, Student Convenor, and Ms. Samia Mirza, Student Co-Convenor. The programme concluded with a call for continued dialogue on contemporary issues where law, technology, and human rights intersect.
